History of Project GOAT
ABOUT US
Project GOAT is a charitable program of A+C Foundation, a community foundation comprised of Athletes, Artists, and the Causes they are passionate about. Peace Love Goat Ambassadors include Houston Astros Pitcher and World Series Champion Lance McCullers, Jr., Tampa Bay Buccaneers Receiver Chris Godwin, Hollywood Actress Kristen Renton, world-renowned Architect Yann Weymouth, Professional Soccer Player Seth Jahn, Indianapolis Colts Defensive Lineman Eli Ankou, Professional Cyclist Shayna Powless, and 2x World Series Champion Johnny Damon.
Project GOAT was Launched in the lead-up to Super Bowl 55 in Tampa, 55 GOATs were created and will be sold to spread awareness to fight and prevent human trafficking & sexual exploitation of children. It aims to provide funding for organizations dedicated to rescuing & rehabilitating victims of human trafficking.
History.
Goats are among the most versatile of all domestic animals—for over 10,000 years being used for milk, meat, fiber, and land management. Having a much smaller environmental footprint than cows, goats are a natural fit for many families across the world. For example, among India’s poorest regions, goats have become a critical income source, particularly for women.
Bill Gates recently wrote in “gatesnotes” that goats in certain Indian communities empower women, with the money earned by bringing them out for grazing, caring for them, and selling them actually staying in the hands of many women. Gates found that more than 70 percent of poor, rural families in India raise goats and rely on them for survival.
The muse.
This is a photo of J.R. at Grady Goat Farm. He is Grady’s older brother. Grady was born blind, deaf, and unable to walk, yet was one of our most happy and fun-loving baby goats. He was the inspiration behind the launch of the Grady Goat Foundation, which helps children (other “kids”) facing adversity and supports animal-rescue efforts.
